Copper smelting in induction smelting furnace

Time:2021-02-25   Nums:3045

Melting equipment used: induction melting furnace, thermocouple, ladle and graphite crucible, etc.

(1) First, preheat the crucible to dark red, then add a layer of dry charcoal or covering agent (63% borax + 37% broken glass) with a thickness of 30-50cm at the bottom of the crucible, then add the leftover materials, waste blocks and bars in turn, and finally add pure copper.

(2) The added alloy elements can be preheated on the hearth, and it is strictly forbidden to add cold materials into the liquid metal. During the whole melting process, the burden should be moved frequently to prevent bridging.

(3) The temperature rise causes the alloy to melt completely. After the alloy is fully melted, when the temperature reaches l200-1220 ℃, adding 0.3% - 0.4% of the weight of the alloy liquid to deoxidize, the following reaction occurs between phosphorus and cuprous oxide: 5cu20 + 2p = p205 + 10cu, cu20 + p205 = 2cupo3, the generated P20s gas escapes from the alloy, and cupric phosphate can float on the liquid surface, and remove the slag to achieve the goal of deoxidization. In addition, continuous stirring is needed in the deoxidation process.

(4) Finally, the slag is removed from the induction furnace, and the pouring temperature of the alloy liquid is generally 1100 ~ 1200 ℃.
