According to reports, the old cast iron workshop of CITIC Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. was built in May 1957 and put into operation in May 1958. The workshop covers an area of more than 10000 square meters, which is composed of molding span, smelting span, cleaning span, open-air span and office building, and then added the non-ferrous span. At that time, the design capacity was 7200 tons per year, mainly producing crane drum, reducer shell, hoist parts, washing equipment and drilling machine parts.

With the rapid growth of the company's total production in recent years, the production capacity of the original cast iron workshop has been unable to meet the needs of enterprise development. In April 2008, the company invested in the construction of the world's largest and most advanced modern cast iron base in Yiyang Industrial Park. On July 1 this year, the Ministry of iron industry of recast officially put into operation. After the first phase project is completed and put into operation, it will produce 50000 tons of large iron castings and 3000 tons of large non-ferrous alloy castings annually, which will become a new economic growth point for the enterprise. At the same time, the new cast iron workshop of the base adopts modern process equipment such as induction furnace, which fully embodies the concept of green production.

In the course of 50 years, the old cast iron workshop has made indelible contributions to the development of CITIC Heavy Industry, and has condensed the hard work and sweat of several generations of cast iron people.
