To take a temperature measurement, simply point the instrument at the dot to be measured. Be sure to take into account the distance to size ratio and field of view. The important things to keep in mind when using an infrared thermometer are: it only measures the surface temperature. Infrared thermometers cannot measure internal temperature. Do not take temperature measurements through glass. The reflection and transmission properties of glass are different from other materials, and the resulting infrared temperature readings are affected. It is not recommended to measure bright or polished metal surfaces (stainless steel, aluminum, etc.) with an infrared thermometer. Pay attention to environmental conditions. Vapor, dust, smoke, etc. block the lens and prevent accurate measurements. Pay attention to the ambient temperature. If the thermometer encounters a sudden ambient temperature difference of more than 10 degrees, let the instrument adapt to the new ambient temperature for at least twenty minutes. Different objects use different emissivity.
