Ingot molds are subject to high temperature, rapid cooling and rapid heating and impact during use, and their materials are required to have high strength and low elastic modulus, fatigue resistance, high temperature oxidation growth resistance and good thermal conductivity. Ingot mold materials that can meet these requirements include gray cast iron, ductile iron and vermicular graphite iron, etc. The chemical composition and mechanical properties of several materials are listed in the table.
