What are the classification of induction furnace crucibles?

Time:2021-03-14   Nums:3087

Crucible is an important part of induction furnace. It is not only used to hold molten metal for smelting, but also plays the role of heat insulation, insulation and energy transfer. In addition to meeting the metallurgical requirements, the refractories for crucibles must also have certain electrical characteristics. Crucibles used in induction smelting are classified according to their materials and manufacturing methods.

According to the chemical properties of the refractory materials, the crucible can be divided into three types: basic crucible, acid crucible and neutral crucible. These three kinds of crucibles are used for different purposes.

1. Basic crucible

The basic crucible is made of basic refractory oxide. Cao, MgO, ZrO2 and BeO are used to make basic crucible. In addition to MgO, other oxides are only used for small crucible because of high cost. Alkaline crucible is the most widely used crucible for smelting various metals and alloys.

2. Acid crucible

Acid crucible is made of acid oxide. The main oxide used for making acid crucible is SiO2. Almost all the acid crucibles are made of SiO2 based refractories, especially suitable for large induction furnaces with 5-30 tons capacity.

3 neutral crucible

Neutral crucible is a kind of crucible made of neutral oxides or composite compounds such as Al2O3, MgO; Al2O3, ZrO2; SiO2, etc.; crucible made of graphite also belongs to this kind. The most widely used neutral crucibles are Al2O3 and MgO, and the ones made of Al2O3 and other compounds are mostly used for smelting high alloy metals and alloys.
