Application of crucible in induction melting furnace

The correct use and maintenance of induction furnace crucible is an important way to improve its service life, and also an effective way to reduce production costs.

1. Use and maintenance of new crucible

The maintenance of new crucible of induction furnace should be strengthened at the initial stage, especially for the crucible of low temperature sintering. The potential defects of new crucible will be exposed in the first smelting furnace, and the leakage of metal often occurs in the first few furnaces. Therefore, the operation control from charging, melting to smelting temperature must be particularly careful to ensure the smooth progress of smelting process. In the initial stage, high carbon and high manganese metal seeds with good fluidity should be avoided as far as possible, but low carbon and low alloy metal seeds should be arranged; the viscosity of slag in induction smelting furnace should be higher, and the inner wall of crucible should be carefully checked for obvious cracks after metal melting.

In the process of smelting with new crucible, it is necessary to observe the change of electric parameters of the induction furnace. When the crucible is normal, the voltage and current of the induction furnace are stable; if the crucible is abnormal, the voltage and current of the induction furnace will change, the voltage will drop and the current will rise. When the electric parameters of the induction furnace are abnormal, the power should be cut immediately for inspection and treatment, so as to avoid the leakage accident of the induction furnace body.

2. Reasonably arrange smelting times of induction furnace

In the case of intermittent operation, the production should be concentrated as far as possible to reduce the frequency of furnace shutdown, so as to improve the service life of the crucible. During the whole service life of the crucible, the metal melting seeds should be arranged comprehensively. In the early stage, low-carbon and low-alloy metals were mainly melted, in the middle stage, high-alloy metals were mainly melted, and in the later stage, high-carbon metals were mainly melted.

3. Timely repair and clean the inner wall of induction furnace crucible

The metal leakage of induction furnace crucible is mostly due to cracks and local erosion. After the metal is removed, the residue adhering to the inner wall of the induction furnace crucible should be removed immediately with the slag removal tool, and the cracks and local erosion should be checked. When cracks and local erosion are found, they should be repaired in time. After the crucible of induction furnace is cooled down, the slag layer is removed to expose the sintering layer, and the fine powder containing sand is mixed with brine (magnesia) and sodium silicate (quartz sand) to repair and dry, and sintering is necessary. If the erosion depth is more than 1 / 3 of the wall thickness and the crack penetrates into the semi sintered layer, the crucible of induction melting furnace should be removed.
